First Look at This Term's Project

This term at university, we have been doing collaborative projects with the Makeup and Prosthetics students. The text is 'The Madwoman of Chaillot', which is set in a Parisian cafe.

The character I am co-designing for is the main Madwoman. She is the owner of the cafe in which the play is set, and she is desperately trying to cling onto her rose-tinted past. My aim is to create a futuristic woman who is trying to mimic different periods of history, resulting in an antique collage of clothes and accessories. I'm going to experiment with a lot of dyes and breaking down, which makes me very excited!

I have now begun making this costume and it should be done around mid-june.

Animal Farm

A bit later than I had intended, but here are my final designs for Animal Farm.

I found this project to be a bit of a challenge at first (turning humans into animals can be a bit daunting), but I got stuck into it and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Of course I can now pick a lot of holes in this project, but that's just making me more excited to start the next one.

Since I handed in this project, I did an internship at Sorapol. I was helping out with their show, and it was great. I will post about that soon, but it was very exciting!

I'm also thinking of setting up an online portfolio somewhere, does anyone have any advice? Let me know if you do!

Catch Up

Since I started uni, I simply haven't had the time to update this thing, I really need to get back into the habit of it really.

The first term of uni has been hectic. Whoever says the first term at uni is easy clearly didn't do this course. Since I was given my projects at the beginning of term I was working non-stop. On top of this, I was adjusting to life in the city, away from home.

I had two projects to do. One was constructing a Victorian bodice, the other was designing for a Roald Dahl story. Here are the results:

I am happy-ish with what I did. It's the first project, but I've turned into a bit of a perfectionist.

Biggest week of my life thus far

So this week was UNIVERSITY INTERVIEWS.
And it was terrifying.
The interviews were for costume at London College of Fashion and Wimbledon. I think they went pretty well! Well, I did my best, which is all I can do really.

I made this blouse recently as an extension of a college project. I am SO determined to be a good seamstress, so this is a big step up for me. Lined with boning and eyelets and EVERYTHING.

I've just started my big final project at college, so I should have stuff to show you all from that soon! It's going pretty well so far!

Blood Wedding (with paint!)

It's not often I like one of my character paintings. I think this may actually be a first!
