Ballet Proljocaj: Snow White

Photobucket

So I went to see Snow White at Salder's Wells recently!

I got the tickets for my birthday, and didn't quite know what to expect really. The dancing itself was a lot more contemporary than I had imagined. And it was a lot more.. risque..
It was a really interesting take on the story. Snow White definitely seems to be the thing right now, with like, two films coming out this year. Everyone has their own take on it. And I definitely liked how it was done in this performance. There was none of the sugary sweetness that you might find in most fairytale adaptations. It was rather dark, and intense. Some of the dances and music really had me on edge.
One of the things that drew me to the performance in the first place was the fact that the costumes were designed by Jean Paul Gaultier, and I was not let down. Snow White's outfit herself left very little to the imagination though.
